In 1964 Bishop W. C. Hunter began ministering by teaching children on his front porch. After noticing a difference in their children's behavior, the parents became interested. As time past the parents eventually came to hear for themselves what was being taught. They met from house to house until the houses were too small to hold the growing congregation. Soon after, Jesus led Bishop Hunter to a store front on Blackford Street.
In 1971, the church was incorporated as "The World's Church of the Living God" inspired by the scripture I Timothy 3:15. Meanwhile, sister churches were being established throughout the Southeast. Ministers were sent from Chattanooga with the same teaching, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In 1976, the church moved to yet another storefront building on Citico Avenue where it remained for three years. In November 1979, Jesus led Bishop Hunter to the church's present location at 2110 Glass Street.
Bishop Hunter began the ministry by proclaiming the name of Jesus and continues teaching the same message today.
